Welcome to Our History

Through the years Tragano Foods expanded into one of the biggest producers of Greek vegetables such as Greek Pepperoncini, Roasted Red Peppers, Roasted Eggplant Puree, Kalamata Olives, Giardiniera, Olive Salads, Olive Bruschetta and Sauces.

Tragano Foods is strongly committed in supporting local communities.  Most of Tragano's products come from single-estate farmers, in the greater Peloponnese area, with whom the company enjoys longstanding relationships.  In recent years Tragano Foods and its growers, have focused on an organic approach to agriculture with a goal of 100% organic production by 2030.

The company currently employs about 90 full-time workers and 140 seasonal personnel and many come from families in the area.  A substantial number of employees have retired after working most of their time at Tragano and even today, their children keep working with us, a testament to Tragano's commitment and connection to the local community.  Although family members are still active at the company, we pride ourselves on developing and promoting new talent to key managerial positions.

Nearly all of Tragano products are exported to Europe, the United States, Australia and the Middle East.  Tragaon has been certfied by BRC Global Standards, ISO 22000 and ISO 26000 as meeting international food safety management standards.  It is also Kosher certified.

 

1929

In 1929, Nikolaos Kostopoulos founded the company in Tragano, a small town in the Peloponnese, Greece.  He makes Tragano home of the world's greatest authentic Pepperoncini.

1956

In 1956, Kostas, Nikolaos's son, takes over the leadership of Tragano Foods.  Kostas's ambition is to expand the Tragano brand reaching abroad and the first exports, including in the US, are achieved.  Kostas builds strong relationships with local growers that supply Tragano Foods with their best quality produce.

1991

The 3rd generation of the Kostopoulos family joins the company, Sakis, Nikos and Bill.  They continue the company's tradition of supporting the local community.  Not only do they build strong relationships with their suppliers, they train and promote new talent within Tragano Foods reaching over 90 people.

2024 and Beyond

Within the last 90 plus years, Tragano Foods has evolved from a small family operated business to a leading manufacturer of premium Greek Foods specializing in Kalamata Olives, Greek Pepperoncini, Roasted Red Peppers, Roasted Eggplant Spread and other specialty items.  The company is very proud expanding products worldwide into retailers, club warehouses and food distributors.
